TMSG: City Helps Teen With Food Permit Instead Of Shutting Him Down

Thirteen-year-old Jaequan Faulkner opened his very own hot dog stand in hopes of raising enough money to buy new clothes for the next school year. Mr. Faulkner's Old Fashioned Hot Dogs was a staple on Penn Avenue, even being promoted by some of the cops in the Minneapolis area.

The health department received a complaint one day about Faulkner's stand and it not having a food permit. However, instead of shutting him down, the city departments came together to help. The health department, Minneapolis Promise Zone, and the Northside Economic Opportunity Network helped bring the hot dog stand up to code and covered the $87 for the cost of the permit. They also helped young Faulkner in learning about the business side of things like finance, marketing, and pricing.

Definitely a tell me something good worthy story. Shoutout to the Minneapolis departments for making a difference.
