Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, also known as Borat 2, has been making headlines for the past few weeks thanks to various scenes where actor Sacha Baron Cohen, in character as everyone's favorite Kazakh, "Borat Sagdiyev," did some outrageous things. For the sequel, relatively unknown actress Maria Bakalova, 24, plays "Borat's" 15-year-old daughter, "Tutar," but everyone else in the film seems to just be regular folks who aren't in on the fact that they are part of the filming of Borat 2. However, that's turned out not to be true.
In one scene, "Tutar" gets tips on how to win over older men by "sugar baby" Instagram influencer Macy Chanel, who explains to "Borat's" daughter how to be an effective gold digger. It isn't hard to believe that Macy is a real person, but not only is she an actress, she didn't even know she was in the movie.
The 24-year-old told Page Six that she found out about her role in the flick when a reporter contacted her and asked her about it. Chanel stated that she was never told exactly what movie she would be in and only took the part after receiving a "well-crafted email" about a role in a kind of "original programming" where she'd help a foreigner better understand dating in America.
Macy said that once filming began, she realized it was "more of a comedy" and suspected her co-star was acting as well, saying, "Maria is an excellent actress, but at no point did I believe her character was authentic."
Even though she wasn't aware of what she was shooting, after watching the film, Macy said on Instagram that she thought the movie was "hilarious."
Chanel thinks she was picked for the role after an appearance she made in an ad for dating site Seeking Arrangement.
As for what's next for her, Macy said, "I came to Los Angeles a few years ago with stars in my eyes. I have worked hard in a sometimes cruel and ugly industry to build my resume and will continue to work hard so Sacha [Baron] Cohen will not determine how my acting career is defined."
