Billy Ray Cyrus Says 'Hannah Montana' Prequel Is In The Works

Hannah Montana might be heading back to the small screen, according to Billy Ray Cyrus.

Speaking with Hollywood Life, the recent Grammy winner admitted that there is currently talk of getting a prequel to the hit 2000s Disney show up and running. "They’re talking about doing a prequel, which to me, I would do that in a heartbeat. Because that means I get to get my mullet back," he said, in reference to playing Robby Stewart and alter ego Robbie Ray.

Billy Ray did not confirm whether Miley Cyrus has even shown interest in the project, but he did say that there's a whole narrative that fans were not exposed to during the original show's run. "I think there’s a whole story that led up to Miley becoming Hannah Montana," he added.

"They had cast me as her dad, and I said, ‘They should get a real actor. I don’t want to mess that show up. They should get a real actor to play her dad, because this is a great script and a great concept," he recalled of joining the series. "‘It's going to blow Miley up. It’s going to be big.'"

Disney Channel's Hannah Montana ran from 2006-2011 until the pop star turned 19-years-old. The series featured the aforementioned Cyrus members, Emily Osment, Mitchel Musso, Jason Earles and Moises Arias.
