The death of Robin Williams hits pretty close to home for Granite Staters.
"The World According to Garp" was written by John Irving, a native of my hometown: Exeter, NH. My mom went to school with his mom and I, along with many people of my generation, might have known and /or gone to school with John's twin siblings, Steve and Sarah Irving.
In high school literature classes we read "Garp" and analyzed it long before the movie was made. When it hit the theatres, it was a pretty big deal for us all, being so close to the source, and all....
Also, "Jumanji" was shot in Keene, New Hampshire and the setting for "Good Will Hunting" was Boston, MA.
That being said, my small tribute is from my favorite Robin Williams movie.
This is what Academy Awards are made of:
I have been part of the South Florida & Treasure Coast airwaves since 1986 including being one of the first air talents on WOLL in the late 1980's. Except for a 5 hear hiatus (1992 - 1997) I have been on the air in these markets ever since. When I moved back to Florida in 1997 I worked for WRMF, then for "The Frog" and "Thunder Country" with call letters WXFG in 1998 before they flipped to WILD 95.5. Shortly after that, I returned to WOLL (KOOL 105.5) and am happy to make nights on WAVE 92.7 a new part of my radio resume, too.
In my spare time on the weekends, I enjoy my family and being a Mobile DJ Entertainer and Master of Ceremonies specializing in Weddings. www.SkipKelly.com
